ABSTRACT

East was always the industrial quarter of London, and consequently the magnet for immigrants and refugees, minority groups and the poor across many generations. It was also the worse-bombed area of London during WWII, so is now mostly an ugly mess of badly re-built housing and tower blocks. East London has always been a socially and economically deprived area. Sarah, as a music therapist, is attuned to the potential and the possibilities for change in both people and situations. Together Tower Hamlets advertised for "a musician" to facilitate an ongoing music group who called themselves Musical Minds. The members of Musical Minds have dressed up smartly, but are looking decidedly anxious now. The focus is the large stage, along which there's a banner with Musical Minds on it. Simon recognizes a few people from the local informal network of mental health users and workers.
