ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author discusses the reader through a journey in which two diverse groups of children ages 7–8 became united into one group during music sessions. He also discusses in detail in order to illuminate the intricate but necessary intergroup relation dialogue. The two groups attended schools in two separate parts of the town Raanana in Israel. The author helps to show how children can solve social problems and how parents and schools can foster positive social relationships among children of different backgrounds. The parents detected in their children eagerness and impatience while waiting for the group's music meetings. Some children used language while others used communication boards to express themselves, consequently involving and engaging their parents, resulting in parents visiting the group. The group atmosphere seemed freer and it looked as if one by one the children with special needs began to be more visible, and to be seen by others as individuals in the group.
