ABSTRACT
The Q’ero are a Quechua-speaking people living high in the Andes east of Cusco, Peru. Their cultural traits include distinctive survivals. Though it is tempting to see the Q’ero as an Inka (Inca) survival, their unique musical practices probably reflect an even earlier Andean diversity with an Inka overlay.
