ABSTRACT
From Pacific mangrove swamps to the Amazon basin, from Caribbean beaches to Andean summits, Colombia is a land of contrasts. Because of the heterogeneity of its pre-Columbian peoples, the strength of its Iberian lineage, and the admixture of New World African culture, its musical heritage is extraordinarily rich and varied.
