Peru is a country of diverse geographical regions, languages, races, and cultural traditions. It is the third-largest nation in South America, with more than 20 million inhabitants distributed within its coastal, Andean, and Amazonian regions. It borders Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brazil and Bolivia to the east, Chile to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Spanish, Quechua (Kechua), and Aymara are the principal languages spoken in Peru, along with numerous languages of Amazonian peoples.
