ABSTRACT
The first piece below was initially published in Dutch in 1992 and has been translated into English especially for this volume. The second and third pieces are the transcripts of two conversations around book readings in 1999 and 2001 from 'The Emigrants' and 'Austerlitz' respectively. They are published here for the first time.
