ABSTRACT
High on the south wall of the nave of Wakefield Cathedral, a handsome marble tablet commemorates the life of ‘John White, Professor of Music’, who died on 24 August 1831 at the age of 52. The full text, as it was engraved on the face of the tablet, reads as follows:
