ABSTRACT

The purpose of the present experiment was to evaluate two different methods of testing operational skills in the context of their utility for the selection of candidates for pilot training. Mastery of operational skills (in flight task performance on a Iapetus simulator) was compared with perceptual-motor performance on the Hyperion system. The Hyperion outcomes discriminated well between good and poor canditates for pilot training. This means that the system may confidently be used for the selection of pilot candidates.
