ABSTRACT

This research is part of the Human Engineering Programme developed at INRETS. One of the aims of this program is to develop a computational model of the driver. This model, called COSMODRIVE, is a cognitive simulation model. One of its main components is a driving knowledge base. In this paper, we focus on the knowledge modelling problem. After briefly describing the background of this research, we analyse the main characteristics of driving knowledge and we present the formutation used in COSMODRIVE for representing it: ‘driving frames’. The computational description of driving frames is realized with the Object-Oriented Modelling Technique of Rumbaugh (OMT).
