ABSTRACT
The development of a good driver education programme is a very complicated task. There are many confusing findings from evaluation studies of existing programmes and there are few studies that have systematically contributed to our knowledge about how we should proceed. Most of our understanding is gained from general knowledge about young and novice drivers’ behaviour and accident involvement and from evaluation studies of existing programmes. The aim of this presentation is to analyse some aspects of current knowledge that may be of importance for the creation of good driver training to provide safe and sensible drivers who will be able to drive in traffic without causing conflicts or accidents.
