ABSTRACT

Women in Higher Education Network (WHEN) brings together women working and studying in higher education at all levels. It aims to foster networking and debate which will raise the profile of women in higher education, address issues of importance to them and challenge the male dominated ethos of higher education. Founded in Cambridge University, co-ordination of the network then moved to Nottingham University, and is currently held by the Univesity of Central Lancashire. To initiate their period of responsibility for WHEN, the coordinators organized a conference on Women and the Higher Education Curriculum in November 1993, at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston. The aim of the conference was to stimulate discussion, provide support, share information and highlight examples of good practice.
