ABSTRACT
Surviving medieval base and precious metal artefacts from Bury and its hinterland are surveyed, and relevant documents noted. Major pieces which have perished are also discussed, such as the 12th-century bronze abbey doors by Hugo ‘Pictor’. Most of the objects are now in Moyse’s Hall Museum, and it is suggested that a published catalogue of them would greatly assist research into the medieval cultural milieu of Suffolk.
