ABSTRACT

Amartya Sen was born in India. He has taught at Cambridge and Oxford and is now a professor of economics and philosophy at Harvard University. He is the author of many books including 108 Identity and Violence: The Illusion of Destiny (2006), Rationality and Freedom (2002), Development as Freedom (1999), and Inequality Reexamined (1992). Sen won the Nobel Prize in economics in 1998.
