ABSTRACT

Shelby Steele is a Research Fellow, author, and columnist at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He is also a columnist and film maker. He is the author of The Content of Our Character (1990), White Guilt: How Blacks and Whites Together Destroyed the Promise of the Civil Rights Era (2006), and A Bound Man: Why We Aren’t Excited About Obama and Why He Can’t Win (2007), and coauthor of The Great Divide: Why Conservatives Fail to Persuade Blacks (2006).
