ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the use of a policy network of early adopters to support the diffusion of innovation of Illinois’ new principal preparation requirements. It examines the process undertaken by a policy network facilitated by the Center for the Study of Education Policy (CSEP) to work collaboratively to adopt Illinois’ new requirements. The chapter focuses on the synthesized findings related to specific elements of the redesign efforts described in the several case studies, a general overview of each university that participated in the Leadership to Integrate the Learning Continuum (LINC) project is provided to situate the context in which the changes took place. At the end of the two-year LINC grant, a one-day symposium was hosted by CSEP and the four university partners to share the lessons learned and resources developed with the other principal preparation programs across the state. The advisory committee was facilitated by staff in the CSEP.
