ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the role of women entrepreneurs in family business by suggesting future research directions. It focuses on the gender differences in family business that influence behaviour and outcomes. Women's entrepreneurship is evident in the business management literature but is considered an underdeveloped area in family business. The chapter also focuses on the ways gender relations affect family business, which provides useful insights into women entrepreneurs in family business. It discusses the importance of focusing on women's entrepreneurship and family business. Women entrepreneurs tend to view their work and personal life as being in a combined network of relationships. The chapter highlights the most promising research avenues for family entrepreneurship. The psychological components of family entrepreneurship deserve more attention than it has received due to its role in the sustainability of family businesses.
