ABSTRACT

Today's society is highly dependent on information. Public procurement is the process of acquiring goods, services and works for the government. The significance of public procurement is that it represents between 15 percent and 20 percent of a state's GDP, and it fosters technological development while improving a country's social standard. The US has the strongest economy in the world. This status has been achieved through constant adaptation and changing the rules with the goal of creating an environment in which the public and private sector can achieve prosperity. Policies and procedures were updated in order to address the quality of acquisition data contained in multiple systems as well as contractor-provided data. The situation in Serbia is better than it was before, but there is still room for improvement. Because of the turbulent history in the Balkans, Serbia was unfortunately involved in the wars in the former Yugoslavia, sanctioned by the United Nations and bombed by NATO.
