ABSTRACT
In this chapter, Pitts examines three debates: whether Latinx is a racial or ethnic identity; how, whether, and to what extent gender intersects with race/ethnicity for Latinx; and the pros and cons of the new term “Latinx.” Pitts indirectly illustrates that the problem of identity is still hotly contested in Latin American and Latinx philosophy and is, in many ways, a defining problem.
