ABSTRACT

Intensive Interaction would help the author to begin connecting with and getting to know Mick while slowly enabling him to get more enjoyment out of being with others. On the subject of control, getting control of the author's own communication behaviour was probably the most difficult thing to do for her Intensive Interaction practice. However, as her awareness of this need increased and she was rewarded for it by magic communication moments, it began to get easier and more natural and this development of her practitioner skill was remarked upon by her peers during the video evaluation element of every training block. Intensive Interaction practitioners know that things can take time. With some of his carers showing such interest in the work that the author was doing and reporting on the outcomes, the mentoring element of the Co-ordinator's Course seemed to become highly relevant.
