ABSTRACT

This chapter applies the good dividends concept to a multi-disciplined small-medium-sized enterprise (SME) in order to enhance this organisation—that is to generate good dividends. Attention is given to the planetary dividend (as outlined in Chapter 4 and Chapter 10), an aspect that had not been considered before within the case organisation, and in particular to draw on United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as a means for understanding and measuring the planetary value to an SME. The chapter explores how stakeholders were engaged to distill areas of value and how such areas of value could be measured in the context of the business. The chapter highlights different orientations of stakeholders to the good dividends; most notably the enthusiasm of employees in contrast to the owners of the business and the suppliers. We conclude the chapter with a conversation with Luke reflecting on beginning to implement the good dividends in his business.
