ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the aesthetic experience of a field trip to the seashore, expressed through student teachers' production of digital books. Gadamer and Dewey both see aesthetic experience as continuous, where various aspects of the self and elements of the world interact with individual as well as shared emotions and ideas. One can assume that by engaging in activities in the physical environment, accompanied by the aesthetic expressions in the digital books, the pupils are able to develop their own experience and understanding of the environment. Students were asked to present facts about their chosen organisms as well as to produce poems inspired by their experiences on the excursion. The English students were asked to recite their poems using the audio tool in Book Creator. The student’s digital books are in contrast to learning materials produced by someone who is removed from the context for which the materials are intended.
