ABSTRACT

Probation and parole agencies do not have a core set of measures to assess the degree to which their agency has incorporated evidence-based supervision practices into routine operations. This chapter presents a core set of performance measures, and uses standard management information system data from five agencies to illustrate which measures can be constructed. Each system used a different management information system and therefore it was possible to construct different measures for different agencies. Results from the performance measures illustrate the differences in implementation of evidence-based supervision practices across the five agencies. Collectively, this approach can assist agencies in conducting internal assessments of their efforts on these measures. Lessons learned from developing these measures are discussed.
