ABSTRACT

This excerpt from “On the Psychological Content of a Case of Schizophrenia,” Spielrein’s ( 1911 BIB-005 ) dissertation, shows important themes already present in Spielrein’s clinical work with a psychotic woman patient (and also the origin of Spielrein’s cryptic term “poetry”). It establishes her lifelong commitment to detailed, empathic observation of her patients’ and research subjects’ modes of thinking.
