ABSTRACT
This chapter explores a possible discursive history of the ‘management’ of the UK National Health Service, which has had an era of administration and an era of leadership—as well as an era of management. The chapter therefore enables a recasting of the history of UK health care—one that especially highlights the interests both denied and supported by the different representational practices outlined.
