ABSTRACT

Religious actors, governments, and civil society have largely failed to generate effective procedures for preventing the spread of religion-related conflict. This chapter focuses on some innovative strategies to address the nature, causes, and solutions to religion-related hostilities. There is a need to diagnose, more scientifically, the underlying causes of what most people perceive as “religious violence” and a need to better measure and monitor results. The strategic framework requires engagement of diverse actors – religious, government, civil society – to participate actively in collective peacebuilding efforts.
