ABSTRACT

Early Chinese historical works contain some information about the Hellenistic world. They refer to the cities built or rebuilt by Alexander and his successors, the states established by Greeks and local people in the former Hellenistic world, the Greek-style coins issued by the kings of Hellenistic kingdoms and local rulers, Greek myths, gods, and so on. Although the information appears to be indirect, ambiguous, and sometimes mutually contradictory, even just short of hearsay and personal imagination, it mirrors the historical reality of the period, and throws some light on Hellenistic legacies in the ‘Western Regions’, especially in the Hellenistic Far East.
