ABSTRACT

In this final chapter Peter and Naomi, editors of this book, who between them have experience of being a client and a therapist, reflect on a number of common, reoccurring themes from across the chapters. These themes include the insight that can be gained from personal accounts of therapy, including identifying what may be most helpful and what can be most challenging. Observations are offered about the often transformative but hard work involved in therapy and the difficult experiences clients often face. Lastly, reflections on the qualities that make a ‘good’ therapist and the use of particular tools in different therapeutic approaches are discussed.
