ABSTRACT

Learning tasks is a usual resource in electronic environments to promote students’ deep comprehension. In this chapter we present a model for task processing that emphasizes the decisions the learner makes when processing texts or documents in order to complete the task. We also explain what makes a task effective in terms of deep learning rather than rote learning. The chapter also examines how external feedback for task success may affect the students’ learning. We conclude with general recommendations for educators and designers of learning environments.
