ABSTRACT
The realities of climate change impacts are now indisputable. The year 2016 was the hottest on record, with global temperatures even higher than the record-breaking temperatures in 2015. 1 Climate change also increases the intensity and frequency of extreme weather events. 2 The most severe event in 2016 was Hurricane Matthew, which was Haiti’s worst humanitarian emergency since the 2010 earthquake. 3
