ABSTRACT
Before ‘it’ happened, I remember the feeling of reading texts that framed hierarchy as a dirty concept – something outdated and outmoded, and something that crushed the human spirit and reduced innovation and satisfaction at work. I never understood these critiques on a philosophical level, and certainly knew that the alternative of free and open dialogue through decentralised relationships would never work in the real world and would likely descend into chaos.
