ABSTRACT

The objective of this chapter is to understand the meanings of subjectivation processes in ANT texts (and especially in the works of Latour). It is possible to outline four basic threads running through his work (as a product of a modern division, as a being of metamorphosis and effect of psycho-morphs), but the forth one (subjectivity production connected with psycho-techno-social devices) will be emphasised, aiming at analysing specific cases. For this, I will rely on ANT and ANT-related approaches that focus on various political modes of production of scientific knowledge, such as the work of Mol and Law, as well as Stengers’ and Despret’s political epistemology (PE). The work of these authors is crucial in the analysis of subjectivation processes that occur in a Division of Applied Psychology in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ-Brazil), where patients, interns, supervisors, laws and buildings enact connections in singular and plural (in its versions) networks.
