ABSTRACT

[abstract: This deals with what is missing from the dualism arguments about mind and body by suggesting a tripartite, holistic approach to music education considering the mind, body, and spiritual dimensions. It looks at how spiritual responses are made up of the known and unknown, the head and the heart, and looks at how the stochastic process has a role to play in this. Finally, qualitative research is presented from interviews with teachers, performers, and students from many different nationalities and cultures as to what spirituality in the music classroom might look like, which will be most relevant to music teachers.]
