ABSTRACT

[abstract: A holistic education framework embodies relational and bioecological principles of child development. Despite the promise of holistic education for improving educational outcomes and reducing disparities, a recent ten-country study suggests there is a substantial gap between what is known about the benefits of holistic education and its consistent and effective implementation in schools (Spier et al., 2017). Holistic education is possible, yet, in practice, rarely provided beyond early primary school. Innovations in neuroscience, combined with innovations in implementation science, can build our understanding of how to make holistic education both available and effective for all children and youth. ]
