ABSTRACT

The chapter suggests four overall areas which need further discussion to show how they impact coaching: how coaching is done; areas where it might become increasingly relevant; new coaching populations and specialist areas coaches may need to address. It also suggests some specific emerging conversations which the book has not dealt with. These include: environmental coaching; the use of animals in coaching; emerging identities; refugees and migration; careers; spirituality; group coaching; cybernetics and technology; politics. It raises some questions that might affect these developments: is coaching a science, a natural activity or an art; what is the relationship of coaching to psychology; who can become a coach; the role of generalist and specialist coaches and who benefits from coaching?
