ABSTRACT

This afterword has been triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic and was written at the start of the ‘lockdown’ in the UK. It is a personal reflection on the potential role of coaching at a time of rapid and all-encompassing change. In particular it draws attention to and normalizes issues and questions relating to personal vulnerability and distress and reconsiders the chapters in this book in the light of this. It concludes on a positive note when my reflections remind me of the power of hope and the resilience of the human spirit, and suggests that as the boundaries of coaching expand, coupled with collaborative inter-professional learning and practice, so too will we find ourselves enhancing and advancing coaching knowledge and practice in ethical and humane ways, for the benefit of all.
