ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses two perspectives on coaching and diversity: firstly, coaching for diversity (the practice of using coaching programmes as part of organisations’ diversity objectives); secondly the changing diversity of the coaching field itself. Relevant literature and research are summarised and evaluated. Key findings are illustrated with case studies on gender diversity and neurodiversity. Five aspects of emerging diversity in coaching practice are debated: coachees, coaches, coaching technology, the use of coaching and the economics of coaching. An agenda for the future including organisational coaching practice, coach training, coaching supervision and coaching research is put forward to support both the practice of coaching for diversity and the changing diversity of the coaching field generally.
