ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to map and analyse women’s and men’s positions in decision-making bodies on three levels in Swedish sports. Acker’s analytical tools have been used. Swedish Sport organisations are gendered, and men dominate the decision-making bodies. This is more pronounced at higher levels. Swedish sports do not live up to their gender equality policy goals with regard to representation in decision-making bodies or in election committees. There are, however, differences among sports. In those regarded as feminine, the representation of women in decision-making bodies is higher than in sports that are viewed as masculine.
