ABSTRACT

The chapter describes the gender ratios for top-level leadership positions in sports organisations in Catalonia since 2000, including managing, coaching and decision-making positions. From the ecological model (Burton & LaVoi, 2016) we focus on the barriers and the opportunities that prevent women from or facilitate them to leading sports organisations. Using 23 in-depth interviews (Moragas, 2014) we present the voice and experience of women who chair sports clubs in Catalonia.
