ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to present and discuss women’s status in Polish sport federations. Data reveal that only 12% of these organisations’ board members are women and their status has not changed significantly from the 1990s. However, women play more important role in winter sports and so-called feminine sports. The chapter uses to the concept of justice, proposed by Nancy Fraser, and refers to its three dimensions – (1) recognition, (2) redistribution and (3) representation – to explain the status of women in sports federations, as well as the differences between the federations.
