ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the application of feminist theory. Feminist theory challenges the mainstream culture by considering how gender influences the human experience. The chapter discusses research and online media reports to illustrate ideas connecting feminist theory to technocrimes. Today, qualitative and quantitative methodologies are included in feminist approaches. Critical feminist theory views gender disparities as a by-product of the unequal power distribution between men and women in a capitalist society, which results in females being disproportionately exploited by men in certain ways. "Feminism" asserts that women and men are of equal value and should have access to the same power, rights, and opportunities, while "criminology" refers to the scientific study of the nature, extent, causes, and control of criminal behavior. Historically, the study of crime has been male-oriented, but feminist criminology challenged the notion that males only are involved in crime.
