ABSTRACT

An emergency manager’s role is a dynamic position that requires a commitment to the profession and continual development. Professional development may be achieved through numerous educational outlets, including college/universities, online learning, lectures, seminars, and exercises. However, intangible personal development cannot be developed in these traditional manners but can be learned from other emergency management practitioners’ experiences. Foundational leadership, management, physical and psychological wellness can be learned from the experience that provides best practices.
