ABSTRACT

The change in the career timetable norms, which has occurred in TB treatment as a result of changes in treatment methods, can be illustrated even more dramatically in the airline pilot's career. Because of rapid changes in the size and nature of the airline industry, the changes in rules controlling aircraft operations, and the repeated introduction of new types of aircraft, the timetable of career phases has undergone some marked shifts through the years. L. Wesley Wager points out a number of ways in which a pilot may slow down or speed up certain career phases. There are important differences, however, between the ways in which the testing points are used for business executives and for pilots. The copilot can make himself ready for upgrading more quickly by getting himself assigned to captains who are more generous in giving their copilot an opportunity to fly the plane.
