ABSTRACT

The position that emphasizes the flowering of creativity in permissive, unstructured circumstances occurs without any position on how creativity can be trained. Perhaps the development of certain skills and funds of information is useful, but these play a merely catalytic role to a creative capability rooted in the conditions of birth. A typical way of studying originality, involves the subjects in imagining unusual uses for common objects, such as bricks and paper clips. Sometimes, the position that emphasizes the flowering of creativity in permissive, unstructured circumstances occurs without any position on how creativity can be trained. The other answer implicit in the actualization position as to why persons engage in something so difficult as creative endeavor is that it is genetically patterned in all human beings. To train for creativity by carefully constructing mock environments that are unstructured and permissive is to fail in producing persons hardy enough to create under natural circumstances.
