ABSTRACT
Psychological studies have shown that people who have strongly punitive views about the treatment of criminals often also have very hostile feelings towards members of ethnic minority groups. In dealing with the subject of crime and delinquency among immigrant and minority groups we are, therefore, treading on ground in which emotions are likely to be easily aroused, and there is a particular need to keep the analysis as dispassionate as possible.
