ABSTRACT

Global Software Development (GSD) presents new opportunities and challenges to software development companies. The prospective rewards of geographically distributed software development include cost savings, increased capacity, access to worldwide talent, and the ability to tailor software to geographically specific markets. However, GSD is not without risks, and frequently the difficulties in implementing GSD are found to be greater than the prospective benefits (Conchúir, Agerfalk, Olsson, & Fitzgerald, 2009).
