ABSTRACT
Biology deals with systems in which process and change are the outstanding characteristics. Physics deals primarily with systems describable by time-invariant quantities, among which energy is central. A more cautious and empirical approach would be to focus attention on certain key concepts which kept recurring at last year's symposium.
