ABSTRACT

The think tanks that have been functioning since the beginning of the 1990s may be classified according to their activities. This was one of the sources of new research organizations in Ukraine. When the Economic Research Center was set up, a board of founders was established in keeping with Ukrainian legislation. However, the center received a wide public response as soon it was able to continue its study of agrarian policy in Ukraine in the form of a project that analyzed factors disintegrating the Ukrainian agri-food market. The type of policy product in demand takes into account the transitory and even crisis-related nature of the economic, political, and social systems of Ukrainian society. Other centers such as the Society Transformation Institute and the Lviv Economic Center also were founded by policy makers who had previously worked in Ukrainian government and parliament. The International Center for Policy Studies in Kiev is an example of such a think tank.
