ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book presents a strong assembly of best practices in data use as defined by professionals in institutional research (IR), strategic planning, and assessment areas. It details the stage for how data are being increasingly demanded on postsecondary campuses in order to drive improvements in organizational outcomes including student performance. The book describes the collaborative process used between academic affairs, student affairs, and IR at West Virginia University to strengthen assessment activities. It shows how Colorado State University-Pueblo responded to both the nationwide and state need to initiate an easier pathway for students who needed remediation courses to enter their major study or enroll in gateway entry classes. The book presents some of the many challenges that the University of Wyoming has weathered during a history of building booms and statewide busts for 130 years.
