ABSTRACT

Indian culture commands very high respect in the world community. Language plays an important role in the development of people and literature helps cultural evolution. It acts like a catalyst in the overall social development. Kings, rulers, social reformers and religious gurus, through their thoughts, actions and lifestyle set examples for the common people. The city of Hyderabad is a part of the Deccan. The language of Deccan is called Deccani. The centrestage of Deccan culture is Hyderabad. The people of Hyderabad practice different religions like Hinduism and Islam. Telangana is a part of the Deccan. Qutub Shahis and Asaf Jahis were the rulers of Telangana. The patronization for Telugu language by rulers had encouraged many poets to take up various literary activities. Their support and appreciation for Telugu was so much that they were hailed as 'Andhra Sultans'. Their support and encouragement had resulted in the advancement of the Telugu language.
