ABSTRACT

The author of Chapter 19 discusses various pathways that families may take to initiate therapy following a divorce or separation, differences between working with both parents versus just one parent, and how to help families explain divorce or separation to children with ASD. The author also provides specific recommendations for parenting plans that consider the needs of children with ASD. The author discusses the areas of residential arrangements and visitation, routines and consistency, and special recreation and hobbies.
